Delta Design in Times of Climate Crises
Multiple SARCC partners presented at the International Conference at the TU University Delft, Netherlands, within a session dedicated to the SARCC project. The session was titled: ‘Sustainable and Resilient Coastal Cities. Nature based solutions in urban coastal zones.’
SARCC presenters included: Presentations were given by Fransje Hooimeijer (TU Delft), Andrea Bortolotti (TU Delft), Andres Diaz Loaiza (TU Delft), Garry Momber (Maritime Archaeology Trust) and Bert van Severen (Flemish Government: Department of Environment and Spatial Development).
Fransje Hooimeijer gave an overview of the SARCC project before each partner presented their contribution.
Garry Momber gave a presentation on the ‘Determination of the longue durée for sustainable coastal development.’ (Authors: Garry Momber, Julie Satchell and Jan Gillespie, Maritime Archaeology Trust). Garry presented the significance of the Long Duree to the understanding of coastal evolution and the impact of past sea level rise and storm events. This is an ongoing process that can be interpreted by assessing coastal archaeological and palaeo-environmental data and can be visualised by historic art, charts and photographs.
